DRAMA

At WAPA we encourage students to express themselves through drama and to articulate their ideas and feelings through imaginative play. By “pretending” to be someone else, and “stepping into the shoes” of another, students begin to learn about themselves and the world around them. Stepping into an imaginative world anything is possible, there are no right or wrong answers.  All ideas are welcome and encouraged and students can share and express their creative thoughts freely and growing in confidence as young actors and actresses week by week.

During weekly drama classes students play a selection of games specifically designed to develop their listening skills, self awareness and control, focus, projection, timing, observation, spontaneity, confidence and trust as young actors and actresses. These “acting” techniques lead naturally into work on dramatic scenes and characters created through role play or improvisation from students imaginations or directly from published dramas, screen plays and scripts. Students perform their dramatic work for each other regularly at the end of each class and for parents, family and friends at professional theatres and venues each year.

Students also have the additional opportunity to be entered for acting examinations with The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA) each year for which we have 100% pass rate.
